Ballet A formal performance dance Ballet originated in Italy and was developed in France, Russia and Britain as a concert dance form. This highly technical form of dance is performed with classical music usually orchestra. Neoclassical ballet style is less rigid than the classical ballet and has elements of Modern dance while contemporary ballet is influenced by classical ballet and modern dance. Ballet has the female dancer focusing on pointe work, flowing, precise acrobatic movements, in a conventional short white French tutu. Plie posture, alignment and placement are vital in Ballet. Most well known famous ballet dancers are Anna Pavlova, Marie Taglioni, Vaslav Nijinsky, Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn.
