Disco
Popularized in the 70s and 80s, Disco involves overpowering sound, free-style dancing, glitzy lighting and colorful costumes. The music is funky and pop oriented with heavy beats and novel sounds. Saturday Night Fever popularized disco in films and increased its popularity. Though it was San Francisco’s Karen Lustgarten who wrote a book in 1973 called The Complete Guide to Disco Dancing.  Mithun Chakraborty popularized disco moves through many of his movies in the 80’s that are still remembered and emulated today.

Kathak

One of the eight forms of Indian classical dances, Kathak originated in Uttar Pradesh, India and means she/he who tells a story. Kathak incorporates, ritual temple dances to bhakti moves and also bits of Persian dance and Central Asian dance brought to India by the Mughal.
In India, there are three major schools or gharanas of Kathak with great lineage-the gharanas of Benares, Jaipur and Lucknow. Mostly performed on a bhajan, ghazal or thumri, Kathak relies most on nuances of the dancer's expression, intricate and complex footwork and fast and sharp dancing. Shambhu Maharaj, Acchan Maharaj, Lachhu Maharaj, Birju Maharaj, Shovana Narayan and Sitara Devi are noted Kathak dancers.

This pure classical dance is Just Dance contestants Soumita Roy and Karan Pangali’s favourite dance form.

Bollywood

Bollywood dance is used in Hindi films where dancers mostly hero and heroines dance to a catchy film song. This popular dance form in India utilizes Indian dances and is peppered with classical dance styles, folk dances and Western dance styles. From local dance moves to styles synonymous with popular heroes, Bollywood dance is as desi as it gets.
The latka, jhatka, pelvic thrusts and gyrating moves are the high points of the dance with expressions galore.  Many film stars have their signature moves and have popularized this dance form namely Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda, Mithun, Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapur, Ranbir Kapoor.
Bollywood is the favourite dance form of Just Dance contestants Rajit Dev, Irfan Sheikh and Surjeet Bansal.

Ballet A formal performance dance Ballet originated in Italy and was developed in France, Russia and Britain as a concert dance form. This highly technical form of dance is performed with classical music usually orchestra. Neoclassical ballet style is less rigid than the classical ballet and has elements of Modern dance while contemporary ballet is influenced by classical ballet and modern dance. Ballet has the female dancer focusing on pointe work, flowing, precise acrobatic movements, in a conventional short white French tutu. Plie posture, alignment and placement are vital in Ballet. Most well known famous ballet dancers are Anna Pavlova, Marie Taglioni, Vaslav Nijinsky, Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn. Ballet is the favourite dance form of Just Dance contestant Kruti Shah from New Jersey, US.
